Britney Spears Announces New Album 'Circus' for Worldwide Release December 2nd.

First Single "Womanizer" Is Slated To Hit Radio On September 22nd

NEW YORK, Sept. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Jive/Zomba recording artist Britney Spears announces her sixth studio album, Circus, set for release December 2nd.

The first single from the album is titled "Womanizer" and was produced by the up-and-coming Atlanta production team The Outsyders. The album release date coincides with Spears' birthday.

Britney Spears is back in the dance studio - practicing new moves to new music (Watch above).

Though she isn't scheduled to perform, the singer is set to open the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards live from Hollywood on Sunday.

A year ago, Spears' disastrous "comeback" performance of "Gimme More" at the VMAs stole the show.

Following her lackluster lip-syncing and slow, uncoordinated dance moves, Spears was spotted "crying badly" backstage.

"She's devastated," a source told Usmagazine.com at the time. "She was really nervous and knows she screwed up."

Though she is nominated for Best Female Video, Best Pop Video and Video of the Year for "Piece of Me," she has been nominated 17 times before but never walked away with a "Moonman."

The 25th annual VMAs, hosted by British actor/comedian Russell Brand, will air live at 9 p.m. ET/PT Sunday from Paramount Studios in Hollywood.
